Record Format Screen Painting Updated With New Edit Features

The Summer, 1995, issue of "The Unibase Technical Review" spoke of the drop in replacement for record format screen painting.  Now a great number of new features have been added to the screen painting.  Some had been planned all along; others were from user reaction to the summer release of screen painting.

The new object oriented screen painter never loses check box data about a field when the field is moved, copied, or modified.  Users can mark a group of fields to be moved, copied, or deleted using the same procedures used in EzEdit.  A field or a group of fields can be moved as often as needed.  At the end of screen painting and at end of each change, all fields are renumbered consecutively.

Also a user can duplicate a field anywhere in the record format.  This process is initiated with the {FIELD} D key.  A user can now Erase a field anywhere in the record format.  This process is initiated with the {FIELD} E key.

Keying order can be specified while in paint the screen mode.  This process starts with the {RECORD} {CORR} key.

Check box edits can now be duplicated from one field to the next  {DUP} key does this.

All of the above new functions are described in the on-line help system called by the User Help key {Info}.  This new rfscr will work in all releases of 7.3.  See the articles on "Define Image Zone" and "Paint Zone Display" for the other new features for record format generation.  These may be downloaded from the new bbs at 540-667-2162.
